Baby Boost Fair

The Baby Boost Fair  had nearly 100 guests visit 14 booths. Each booth represented a social service available to assist moms and/or dads and/or grandparents in raising infants and toddlers.

There were a variety of cultural food delights to be enjoyed and as the day came to a close, door prizes of infant items from formula to car seats were given away.

Our Baby Boost Fair was co-sponsored by Solid Ground's WIC program.

Located in the Georgetown area, about 4 miles south of downtown Seattle, The St. Vincent de Paul Food & Clothing bank provides food that is distributed to both homeless and non-homeless individuals and families.  People living within our service area are eligible for government commodities. Clothing is available for people in need. Visiting nurse services provide free monthly visits, checking blood pressure, screening for health problems, and making appropriate referrals.

The St. Vincent de Paul Food and Clothing Bank gives out over 100,000 pounds of food per month, serving over 3200 households and more than 7,200 people. Additionally we help with special non-cook food bags for between 700 to 1000 homeless people per month.

All this work would not be possible without the help of our volunteers who provide over 700 work hours per month.  Those volunteers help sort food donations, sort clothing, register clients, enter data into our computer, hand out food bags, and answer questions.

We occasionally have a need for new volunteers and can help people fulfill their community service hours.  For more information on volunteering or doing community service hours at our food and clothing bank, please call Pete O'Brien at:  206-767-9975 ext. 120, or send and e-mail message to:  PeteO@svdpseattle.org

Next time you visit a St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, please remember that the profits all go to the helping the homeless and low-income families in our community.
